Breckenridge Weather

The Breckenridge Colorado weather is one of the area’s best kept secrets: the winters are gorgeous but the summers can be even better.

Ask just about any local you meet in Breckenridge why they decided to come here, and the most answers you get will be the same:  “I came for the winters but stayed for the summers.”  As one of America’s premier ski resorts one would expect spectacular winters.  Lots of snow with a not too horrible climate making for amazing skiing, snowboarding and just about any other winter sport you can imagine.  But Breckenridge weather has a surprise in store: these spectacular although relatively mild winters give way to equally spectacular and mild summers.

While the Breckenridge average temperature in winter is somewhere around 28 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter (just a few degrees below freezing), the Breckenridge weather becomes quite beautiful during the summer, averaging around 70 degrees during the day and dropping to about 50 degrees during the night.  Combine mild temperatures with ethereal natural beauty: sapphire blue skies, emerald oceans of trees and grass, gorgeous mountainous skylines, and you’ll begin to see why Breckenridge has begun to become just as popular a summer destination as it has been a winter one.

The Sun is king during the summer, but the Breckenridge weather allows you to escape the heat.  It’s taken a while for people to figure this out, though.  It’s only been in recent years that Breckenridge has become a popular summer destination, making it not only one of America’s premier winter resorts but one of America’s premier year-round resorts.  The town certainly has no shortage of summer opportunities: hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, not to mention playing on the world’s only Jack Nicklaus designed 27 hole golf course.

In winter, of course, snow is king, and you will find no lack of winter activities in Breckenridge Colorado. Breckenridge Skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, dog-sledding: all of it and more are commonplace in Breckenridge during the winter.  You also have Breckenridge ice fishing, ice skating (both indoor and outdoor) and sleigh rides.  Breckenridge Summit County is a world class resort and you’d be hard-pressed to find yourself bored here at any time of the year.

Aside from the great temperatures, Breckenridge weather boasts even more.  Average humidity resides at around 30% throughout the year: not to dry and yet at the same time not too moist.  An average of 300 days of sunshine per year.  Of course, to top it off in the winter Breckenridge averages about 300 inches of snow a year.

If you’ve been looking for a vacation home or perhaps a condo or land to purchase, consider Breckenridge or any other town in Summit County.  The Breckenridge Colorado climate makes it a truly unique place to live and work, one that’s almost impossible to find anywhere else in the world.
